finding inspiration in the desert

Hello and welcome to OUTSIDE THERAPY EXPERIENCE. I want to personally thank you for taking the time to explore our little corner of the internet

This all started on a camping trip in the Southern Utah desert. It was July, 2020 and Covid had just rocked the world for the previous 6 months or so. I had recently  returned to Arizona from California. Like many others I had been cooped up in a room for essentially 4 months straight, waiting to see if the world was going to end and I NEEDED TO GET OUTSIDE!

I planned to be alone and in the middle of nowhere for 7 to 10 days, looping together a handful of my favorite places in Northern Arizona/Southern Utah. It was late afternoon on the 3rd of July and I was exploring a new to me spot. I spent the day winding my way down a narrow 4×4 trail, in and out of a creek bed and finally up the side of a hill to a plateau. As the pictures here show, the views were stunning with my absolute favorite kind of light, a mix of golden hour and dark clouds from the thunderstorms that danced around on all sides. In total awe and gratitude I just soaked it all in. I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome home.

It was then that it hit me. I wished that I could share this with everyone that needed to be there, like me, at that moment. I wanted to share this with all the people who were quarantined, suffering, or just unable to travel to remote places for whatever reason. With that thought an idea was born…

Now is probably a good time to mention that I AM NOT medically trained, or a therapist in any capacity. The information offered here is based solely on my personal beliefs and life experiences. This information is not intended to be used in place of advise from medical professionals or therapists/councilers.

As mentioned earlier the original idea of OTE was to share a nature scene with others that, for whatever reason, can’t experience their own. That idea quickly morphed into an audio/visual meditation. The idea of mingling a beautiful outdoor scene with a relaxing audio experience just seemed like a great combination.

A little further on in the journey I became aware of the concept of sound healing. The idea behind sound healing is that certain sounds and frequencies can affect the body and mind in beneficial ways. After sound healing I stumbled upon color therapy. Like sound healing, color therapy has been shown to have a positive effect on physical, mental, and emotional health. Both sound healing and color therapy are fascinating subjects and well worth investigating further if you have the time.

With these concepts in mind a clearer vision began to form. My goal is to create a colorful and inviting natural setting that is then paired with a relaxing sound experience. If you desire a more personalized experience you might be interested in pairing your own sound to the video. Youtube is a virtually endless resource of sounds and frequencies. By being selective of the colors in the meditation you choose and pairing specific sounds or frequencies you have the ability to create a powerful healing experience tailored to your needs. Whether pairing your own or listening to the supplied music the use of noise cancelling earbuds/headphones is recommended.

Most of the meditations are between 30 and 40 minutes long, with some lasting around an hour. There’s no panning, scene changes, or camera shifts of any kind. The idea is to let sound and the colorful beauty of nature calm, relax and re-energize the mind, body and soul.

And finally, if none of the above is for you and you just want to relax with nature, watch birds cut a rug, clouds transform, light develop, or grass stagger in the breeze, OTE is just for you.

Currently we offer two ways to relax and enjoy nature. All meditations are accessed through the website. We do not offer downloads at this time.

THE FIRST WAY is to purchase 3 days of access to an individual meditations through our store. Simply choose a meditation that vibes with you and click the “ADD TO CART” button. You can add as many individual meditations to your cart as you would like. Once you are ready, proceed to the checkout and complete the necessary information. During this process an account will be created for you and you gain access to your selected meditation(s) through signing in to the website under “My Account” in the top right corner of the webpage. This is a great option if you only need limited access or you are targeting specific colors or feels.

THE SECOND WAY is to purchase a membership option. You can choose one of our membership levels and have 24/7 access to ALL content on the website. Just click the “Join Now” button of your desired membership and complete the necessary information. Once signed up you can access this area through either the Memberships tab in the top right corner of the home page or the My Account tab on the home page. This is a great option if you want frequent access to multiple meditations and a variety of colors and scenes.

One new meditation is added to both the store and the members area every week. The idea is to seek out different scenes and colors to offer a variety of meditations for everyone. This will also give both members and guest something to look forward to every week.
